Looking ahead for another new year of great fishing.

Well, I didn't do very good job again last year with this blog. So I will try to do better this year.

Last years flooding on the River, is now a thing of the past, and left behind are what seems to be many hungry fish. Many believe that the fast moving water washed many shad, smelt and other bait fish down river toward New Orleans and the Gulf.

The late summer and fall bites were some of the best walleye fishing we have had in years, and this summer should be no different.

So if you are looking for some inexpensive fishing and a great time out in God's creation, give me a call, check my website(see link to it on my profile page), looking forward to seeing you all some time this year!

Nice weather, you can start anytime now!

The first group of the season is coming this Wednesday and it looks to be cool and wet. So rain suits and flannel shirts will be the order of the trip.

Sure hope the fish are biting!!!

Wow, I haven't been here for a while!!!

Seems that my blogging has been about as good as the fishing has been this winter.

I would like to post something I saw on a fishing website.

I just saw this question on one of the fishing sites I follow,
"If you had one day left to fish, who would it be with and where?"

My answer is---- With my son, my son-in-law, and 4 grandsons, on Crystal Lake in Curt Gowdy State Park, west of Cheyenne, WY. where I last fished with my Dad, or else a small stock dam in Kansas where my Brother Dale and I spent many hours fishing as kids.........

Just think about it, you might have some favorite memories.

Nice day, but the fish still aren't cooperating!!!

Yep, no fish biting at the river either! The Diamond Willow Kids Ice Fishing Tournament is Monday and I told Caleb & Levi I would look for some place that the fish were biting. I haven't found that spot yet. But it was a nice day and Peg went with me, cause she didn't want me to go alone..... And she doesn't like ice fishing, so that was a big sacrafice on her part "Thanks Dear"!!!!!

Here are a few pictures to prove she went.

Very cold, lots of snow, and the word is the fish are not cooperating!

I went over to Lake Louise on Monday Dec. 21st. It was a good practice, I practiced setting up my new popup shack, I practiced drilling holes, I practiced setting out some fishing lines, I practiced baiting my hook, I practiced jigging my lures, but I did not practice catching any fish! Oh well maybe next time. It was as you can see a very nice day!

NCC professors came back for some wild Smallmouth action!

For the 2nd year in a row, David Haynes and Dan Cravatt from Nebraska Christian College were back for some great Smallmouth fishing. This year the goal was to top the 18" mark. The weather hasn't our friend for the first 2 days and the fishing was very tough. We got wet and cold, but on Tuesday David caught an 18" plus smallie, that really made his day.

Then Wednesday was cold, very cold, and the fishing went from bad to worse. We only caught 12 fish all day, but this time it was Dan's turn to top the 18" mark.

Thursday brought sun, warm temps, and no wind, it also brought out some hungery smallmouths. Right away in the morning we noticed a total difference in their eating habits, as the smallies were hungery and ready to chase some great chug bug surface action. The day produced 54 fish in the boat, including a couple more 18"ers and Dan caught one 191/2". Now that was a nice fish!!!

Some more great smiles........
